From the Studio
Right now, my studio is buzzing with all the work for my upcoming Fall collection, Live with Gusto! Original Artwork will be available October 15th! There will be 12 new pieces on large canvas that are part of this collection. I have a sneak peak of some of them (they are not finished), but you will see the direction I am going with the artwork. I’d like to share “Vaughn”, “Perched” and “the Musician”. These, along with others, I used both acrylic and oil for the final painting. This technique has allowed me the flexibility with colors, but also to produce artwork quicker without compromising quality.
“Perched” is a portrayal of a beautiful lady “perched” in a tree in front of a villa. This image shows fantasy and allows me to use vibrant colors. With a beautiful dress adorned with colorful birds, this painting is unique and visually satisfying. I was inspired to paint this to portray a lovely lady that is comfortable with her own skin and not afraid to be different. The setting in the tree allowed me to incorporate nature and beauty. I’d love to hear what you think of this new piece.
“The Musician” portrays a many with a trumpet, while holding his infant son. This depicts a musician with dynamic style and all the while a father figure. The vibrant abstract designs in his hair represent the creative process when making music. As I am a lover of all art, my fondness for music is a part of my personality and I love art with a music theme. In my current collection, “Version Control” was so popular and I wanted to use some of the technique to leverage the visually appealing colors and shapes. This was a fun one and I want to know what you think of this one.
“Vaughn” is a portrayal of a haberdasher and is a configurative art piece with some elements of abstract. I was inspired to paint this to send a message about setting an example. Imagine if you’re a man shopping for a suit and hat, wouldn’t you be more likely to buy it if the person selling it was looking sharp. To add some flair, I enhanced his eyes to show the fantastical aura of the individual. I hope you like what you see.
I continue to work in the studio on this collection and if you think these are intriguing, just wait until you see the other nine!! I am so excited about this collection because of the way it makes me feel. I feel uplifted, blessed, and re-charged and I hope it makes you feel the same.
Wellness in Focus
As the air turns crisp and the leaves begin to fall, autumn invites us to slow down, reset, and realign with our wellness goals. At Kevin Whitehurst Studio, we believe that vibrant living is an art—and fall is the perfect canvas to nourish your body and soul.
Here are the top nutrition and fitness strategies to help you thrive this season:
🥗 Nourish with Fall’s Superfoods
Fall’s harvest is rich in immune-boosting, energy-enhancing ingredients. Here are some seasonal superstars to add to your plate:
- Pumpkin & Squash – Packed with vitamins A and C, fiber, and antioxidants. Roast them with warming spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Sweet Potatoes – A great source of beta-carotene and potassium. Try them mashed or baked into hearty casseroles.
- Brussels Sprouts & Kale – Cruciferous greens that support detox and immunity.
- Apples, Pears & Cranberries – High in fiber and polyphenols, perfect for gut health and inflammation.
- Mushrooms & Garlic – Natural immune boosters with antiviral properties.
- Nuts & Seeds – Pumpkin seeds and walnuts offer healthy fats and zinc for immune support[7].
🏃♀️ Move with Intention
Fall’s cooler weather makes it ideal for refreshing your fitness routine. Here’s what’s trending:
- Recovery-Focused Training – From infrared saunas to guided mobility classes, recovery is now a core part of fitness[5].
- Hybrid Workouts – Combine strength, cardio, and core in shorter, more efficient sessions.
- Walking Yoga & Nature Walks – Low-impact movement paired with mindfulness is gaining popularity for stress relief and joint health[6].
- Strength for Longevity – Just two to three full-body strength sessions per week can improve bone density and muscle retention[9].
🌞 Reset Your Daily Rituals
Fall is a natural time for small lifestyle resets. Try these:
- Start Your Day with Warm Lemon Water – A gentle detox and hydration boost.
- Shift Your Workout Schedule – Move sessions to mornings or lunch to beat early sunsets.
- Get Outside – Aim for 7,000–10,000 steps daily. Walking in nature reduces stress and boosts mood[3].
